How to keep your bread fresher for longer
Your crust acts as a container so if your bread was hydrated enough while in the dough form, it will have enough moisture locked up inside the crumb.
Using a big enough board, cut about half the loaf into slices and keep them covered with the crust until needed.
Every time you need a slice take from the bottom until you get to the crust.
Even though for some the crust is the best part keep using it as a lid as it will prevent the bread from drying out.
Place the cut side of the other half loaf on the board making it stand up and cover with a clean cloth.
The crust will protect it.
Once the first pile of sliced bread has finished proceeding with cutting the second half as needed.
